After recently visiting the deluxe Times Square, NYC headquarters, allow me to testify, and I will “overstate” Sean Combs “aka” Puffy, Puff Daddy has built an… EMPIRE!
Digest everything you think you know as gospel and magnify your conclusion. Don’t be fooled by the smoking mirrors of many of his contemporaries you see embellishing the facts of their success. The Sean John brand alone is a kingdom all unto itself, as the world’s fastest growing line of contemporary sportswear for men. “Can’t stop, won’t stop”, for Mr. Combs, is a very literal axiom.
Under the Puffy umbrella is the ultra premium vodka Ciroc, which is on pace to become the 800 lb. gorilla in the marketplace. Currently, it’s the #2 top shelf brand, within only 3 years of it’s acquisition. The list of his additional assets are equally as impressive and noteworthy, but probably the most important of them ALL is his Blue Flame Agency.
Did you ever wonder how Puffy seems to be omnipresent? From the current largest billboard EVER to hang in Times Square (Sean John), Ciroc commercials, Unforgivable campaigns, MTV Making of the Band & Dirty Money PR to TV cameos. Look no further then the creativity of Blue Flame.
Blue Flame is a full-service marketing and advertising agency that creates strategic cross-cultural branding initiatives to interpret and capitalize on the ever-changing landscape of New America.
The company is headed by a secret unit of female marketing ninjas. One of the key members is Ericka Pittman, VP Brand Strategy (pictured above), who I recently collaborated with on a project. Don’t let the smell of perfume confuse you, Ms. Pittman is looking for their brands to dominate in the marketplace. Case in point, as we discussed our biz philosophies I stated, “the pie was huge and I only wanted my piece.” Upon a moment of silence, I realized this concept was sacrilegious inside the walls of Blue Flame. The only objective is for her brands to totally dominate.
I felt a deja vu to an interview with Marissa Mayer (Google VP), who was instrumental in making Google Inc. a global Superpower. The basic mindset of these women, “second is NOT an option.” The advantage I recognize of this new generation of companies such as Blue Flame is a true balance of yin and yang. It’s impressive to see women with green light power within the empire, especially in a former male dominated industry. Read the new article in Uptown magazine on Ericka, Dia & Erin on newsstands.
SIDEBAR NOTE: Ericka is also a NBA expert and sports historian.
The future is limitless for Blue Flame, as if overseeing the Puffy kingdom wasn’t a cup overflowing, they have a heavy demand from endless Fortune 500 companies who are requesting these ladies to sprinkle some of their magic dust on their brands as well. So the next time you see Puffy ads in your dreams, pay your respects to the WOMEN of Blue Flame.
